Thời gian qua, việc xây dựng sản phẩm du lịch trên địa bàn Quận 8 được Quận Ủy, Ủy ban nhân dân Quận 8, các cơ quan, đoàn thể và nhân dân trong quận rất chú trọng và quan tâm, đặc biệt là xây dựng tuyến du lịch đường sông nội đô nhằm kết nối giữa Quận 8 với các Quận 1, Quận 9, Huyện Củ Chi, Huyện Cần Giờ… góp phần hoàn thiện mạng lưới du lịch đường sông của thành phố.<o:p></o:p>

Được sự chỉ đạo của Quận Ủy, Ủy ban nhân dân Quận 8, các cơ quan chuyên môn thuộc Ủy ban nhân dân Quận 8 đã phối hợp với Sở Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Hiệp hội Du lịch Thành phố, các chuyên gia trong lĩnh vực du lịch và một số Công ty Du lịch, công ty lữ hành có uy tín trên địa bàn Thành phố tiến hành khảo sát, thiết kế, xây dựng và hoàn thành tuyến du lịch đường sông nội đô (Quận 8 – Quận 4 – Quận 1), mà điểm xuất phát là chùa Long Hoa (số 360A bến Bình Đông, Phường 15, Quận 8, TP.HCM) – một ngôi chùa có nét đẹp riêng, nằm trên bờ kênh Tàu Hũ và cũng là một ngôi chùa có nhiều đóng góp trong công tác xã hội - từ thiện. <o:p></o:p>

Lịch sử hình thành:<o:p></o:p>
Chùa Long Hoa tọa lạc tại số 360A bến Bình Đông, phường 15, quận 8, Thành phố HỒ Chí Minh do thượng tọa Thích Huệ Công đảm nhiệm chức vụ trụ trì từ năm 1996 đến nay.<o:p></o:p>
Chùa Long Hoa được Hòa thượng Thích Siêu Trần đến từ Đài Loan thành lập vào năm 1958 trên khu đất 4000 m2 . Kiến trúc của chùa mang đậm nét truyền thống Trung hoa gồm có: điện Di Lặc và Tứ Thiên Vương, tháp Tổ, Chánh điện, điện Dược sư và Quan Âm Các.<o:p></o:p>

Năm 1968 Hòa thượng Thích Siêu Trần vận động Tăng ni Phật tử Người Hoa thành lập Phật giáo Hoa Tông và đặt văn phòng tại đây. Từ năm 1975 đến năm 1996 chùa gần như hoang phế, ít có Phật tử lui tới sinh hoạt. Năm 1996 Thượng tọa Huệ Công được Thành hội Phật giáo bổ nhiệm trụ trì.<o:p></o:p>

Thượng tọa cùng với Ban Hộ pháp và Phật tử chùa Long Hoa gầy dựng và phát triển ngôi Tam bảo, sau 3 lần trùng tu vào năm 1997, 2000, 2011, bộ mặt ngôi chùa trở nên uy nghiêm và khang trang như ngày hôm nay.<o:p></o:p>
Phương diện Thờ cúng:<o:p></o:p>
Tầng 1 sau cổng Tam quan là điện thờ Di Lặc và Tứ Thiên Vương nối tiếp là Tháp Tổ có hành lang đến Chánh điện. Đặc điểm Chánh điện chùa Long Hoa có tượng phật Thích Cacao 3m được đặt trong khánh để đảm bảo sự tinh khiết. Hầu hết các tượng đều được dát vàng…Trên điện thờ, có lư hương đựng trầm hương đốt trong các buổi lễ và ngọn đèn dầu phộng giữ cháy liên tục, tượng trưng cho chánh pháp không bao giờ tắt!<o:p></o:p>

Quan Âm Các đặt trên hồ phóng sanh bên hông có phù điêu cửu long tranh châu có bia công đức là một điểm đặc thù trong các chùa miếu của người Hoa, ghi lại tên và số tiền quyên góp vào việc dựng và trùng tu chùa…<o:p></o:p>
Phía dưới Chánh điện và điện Dược Sư là Hội trường và nhà khách có sức chứa trên 1000 người đến dự lễ và hội họp. Phần diện tích trống còn lại đều được trồng cây xanh và hoa kiểng tạo môi trường thoáng mát gần gủi với thiên nhiên.<o:p></o:p>
Đặc biệt chùa có một Trai đường phục vụ các món chay mỗi ngày Rằm và mùng 1 âm lịch Phật tử đến viếng chùa có thể đến Trai đường để thưởng thức các món chay như nhà hàng chuyên nghiệp.<o:p></o:p>

Pháp hội hằng tháng vào ngày mùng 10, ngày 14 và 30 âm lịch có lễ sám hối vào lúc 14 giờ và tối Chủ nhật hằng tuần có khóa tu niệm Phật lúc 18 giờ . tất cả các buổi lễ đều có đông đảo các Phật tử Người Hoa tham dự. vào những dịp lễ lớn như Nguyên Tiêu rằm tháng giêng số lượng người đi chùa khoảng 10.000 người.<o:p></o:p>

Vào khoảng tháng 3 năm 2011, đoàn Phật giáo Hoa Tông nước ngoài gồm 100 Tăng ni và Phật tử của nhiều quốc gia nước ngoài viếng thăm chùa Long Hoa trong chuyến du lịch tâm linh tại Việt Nam đã có ấn tượng tốt đẹp về ngôi chùa người Hoa trên đất nước Việt Nam. <o:p></o:p>
Hoạt động từ thiện xã hội:<o:p></o:p>
Một trong những nét đặc thù của chùa là công tác từ thiện – xã hội. hằng năm duy trì hai đợt chăm lo cho dân nghèo tại địa phương vào dịp lễ Vu Lan và dịp Tết Nguyên đán với tổng số tiền trên 700 triệu đồng/năm.<o:p></o:p>
Hằng năm, chùa còn phối hợp với Ủy ban MTTQ Quận 8, ban Bảo trợ Hội chữ Thập Đỏ Quận 8, ban Từ thiện Xã hội báo Giác Ngộ, báo Sài Gòn Giải phóng Hoa văn…tổ chức nhiều đợt cứu trợ  thiên tai lũ lụt tại các Tỉnh với số tiền hàng tỉ đồng.<o:p></o:p>

Dòng kênh mỗi ngày đang dần thay đổi tạo cảnh quan thông thoáng giữa lòng thành phố, trên thuyền du khách lần lượt nhìn bên tay phải là các Phường 15, 14, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8. Còn bên tay trái là Đại lộ Võ Văn Kiệt. Nếu chú ý, du khách sẽ thấy được những ngôi nhà được thiết kế và xây dựng rất độc đáo theo kiến trúc thời thuộc Pháp. Con kênh Tàu Hủ và đường Võ Văn Kiệt là ranh giới giữa Quận 8 với Quận 5, Quận 6.<o:p></o:p>

</v:textbox><w:wrap type="square"></w:wrap></v:rect>Tiếp tục chuyến du lịch đường sông xuôi theo dòng Kênh Tàu Hũ, đến ngã ba - nơi gặp nhau của hai dòng Kênh: Kênh Đôi và Kênh Tàu Hủ hợp thành sông Bến Nghé (thuộc ranh giới Quận 1 và Quận 4). Tại đây du khách sẽ gặp và cảm nhận được chiếc cầu có hình Chữ Y đã đi vào thơ ca: “Người đi trên chữ. Chữ nâng người lên”. Chiếc cầu này diễn ra với bao chiến công hiểm hách của quân và dân ta qua hai cuộc đấu tranh cách mạng, đặc biệt là chiến dịch Mậu thân năm 1968.<o:p></o:p>

Trên dòng sông Bến Nghé thơ mộng, du khách sẽ thấy được sự thay đổi của thành phố qua quá trình cải tạo, chỉnh trang phát triển đô thị trong thời gian qua, diện mạo của Thành phố mang tên Bác không những được in đậm nét qua những tòa nhà cao lớn hiện đại, những chiếc cầu vượt sông liên kết, nối liền các Quận huyện mà còn thấy được những tòa nhà cổ kính mang đậm phong cách phương tây. <o:p></o:p>

Càng ngạc nhiên hơn khi khi thuyền đưa du khách tiếp cận của ngõ của dòng sông Bến Nghé - nơi tiếp giáp con sông Sài Gòn, có Bến nhà Rồng năm xưa Bác Hồ ra đi tìm đường cứu nước, để hòa nhập vào một cảnh quan du lịch đường sông nói riêng và du lịch nói chung của thành phố qua cảng du lịch Bạch Đằng, Quận 1. Sau đó du khách lên thuyền của Công ty TNHH Du lịch Thuyền Buồm Đông Dương ngược trở về điểm xuất phát là Chùa Long Hoa – kết thúc chuyến du lịch đường sông tầm ngắn. <o:p></o:p>

     Điểm xuất phát: Chùa Long Hoa (360A Bến Bình Đông, Phường 15, Q.8).<o:p></o:p>
      Điểm đến: Bến Bạch Đằng Quận 1 – Sau đó quay về Chùa Long Hoa. Kết thúc chuyến tham quan.<o:p></o:p>
      Thời gian khởi hành: Từ 17giờ 30 đến 20giờ 00 vào các ngày Mùng 5 và 19 (Âm lịch) hàng tháng (02 lần/tháng). <o:p></o:p>
